Rocio Malen 🇦🇷

Rocío Malen Jara, 27, is a social work student at the National University of La Plata. After being incarcerated and released in 2022, she began her activism while under house arrest and has since become a committed advocate for social justice and a national representative of the Branch of Formerly Incarcerated People and Families within the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE).

She currently serves as the Territorial Coordinator of Promoters Supporting Women Under House Arrest, within the Buenos Aires for the Reduction of Recidivism program of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Province of Buenos Aires. She also works with the University Prison Support Office at the National University of La Plata, accompanying students who are incarcerated or recently released. Rocío coordinates community-based projects aimed at supporting the social and labor inclusion of formerly incarcerated individuals and women under house arrest across several regions of the province, including La Costa, Olavarría, Almirante Brown, Berisso, and La Plata. In addition, she teaches university-level courses in two women’s correctional facilities, providing training and tools to support pre-release preparation and promote successful reintegration into society.
