Nora Calandra 🇦🇷

Nora Laura Calandra is the Undersecretary for Labor and Community Inclusion of People in Conflict with the Law at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Province of Buenos Aires. She has also served as a leader of the Branch of Formerly Incarcerated People within the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE), where she coordinated worker cooperatives made up of formerly incarcerated individuals and supported social inclusion processes for women who had been released or were under house arrest. As a spokesperson, she has brought visibility to these issues through various media outlets in Argentina and abroad, always from a gendered perspective.

Deeply committed to human rights advocacy, Nora contributed to the creation of the Guide for Respectful Childbirth for People in Detention in the Province of Buenos Aires. Together with other organizations, she also co-authored a draft law aimed at reducing recidivism in Argentina. Additionally, she has participated in intersectoral working groups addressing the situation of children and adolescents with incarcerated family members. Regionally, she is a member of the Latin American Network of Formerly Incarcerated Women.
