Since 2022, Jan Drtina has been working at the Rubikon Centrum nonprofit organization as an expert advisor and key worker for housing. He is also a member of the expert team of the Czech branch of Rescaled, a European movement advocating for small-capacity prisons. In September 2025, after almost 25 years, he became a student again at a higher vocational school in Prague, where he is studying social work and social pedagogy. He is particularly interested in penology and in promoting the use of lived experience within the prison system and the judiciary.
