Boxten Kudziwe holds a Diploma in Law from the Malawi School of Government (Mpemba Campus), formerly the Staff Development Institute (SDI). He currently works with the Centre for Human Rights, Education, Advice and Assistance (CHREAA) as the Project Coordinator for the Prison Education Program (PEP), which focuses on improving the livelihoods of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people and their communities, with a strong emphasis on reintegration.
Boxten has worked towards policy reform of the outdated Prison Act in Malawi, helping to create opportunities for people in prison to enjoy their rights as stipulated in the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners (the Nelson Mandela Rules). He is an activist deeply committed to community empowerment and always stands up for the voiceless, with the goal of making the world a better place.
A formerly incarcerated person himself, Boxten spent seven years, six months, and nineteen days in prison. He is a member of the International Incarceration Paralegal Congress (IIPC).
